OSTEOPATHIC TREATMENT FOR SPORTS INJURIES

Whether you’re an elite athlete or a recreational participant, our Osteopaths may be able to help treat and implement a rehabilitation program for sporting injuries.

Some common injuries that may occur:

  • Ankle sprains
  • Hamstring strains
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Tennis and Golfer’s elbow
  • Joint sprains
  • Knee injuries and overuse
  • Shin splints
  • Acute injuries

Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners, and are trained to recognise causes of pain/injury which may require referral. We may also refer you for radiological assessment or communicate with your healthcare specialist or GP.

What will treatment involve?

During an appointment, a case history is taken, followed by an assessment and examination to help identify the type and cause of your injury being experienced.

Treatment may help alleviate symptoms of some sports injuries. Osteopathic treatment may be combined with advice on rehabilitation exercises, postural involvement, sport participation, dietary advice or pain relief advice to help implement an overall management plan and maintain your peak performance.
