Some common musculoskeletal sources of headache include (1):

  • Migraines
  • Tension type headaches
  • Cluster headaches

Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners, and are trained to recognise causes of headaches which may require referral. We may also refer you for radiological assessment or communicate with your healthcare specialist or GP.

What will treatment involve?

During an appointment, a case history is taken, followed by an Osteopathic examination to help identify the type and cause of headache being experienced.

Depending on the headache cause, treatment may help alleviate symptoms. Osteopathic treatment may be combined with advice on rehabilitation exercises, postural involvement, sport participation, dietary advice or pain relief advice to help implement an overall management plan.
